SUMMARY:Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche | Teachings\, Empowerments and Transmissions
DESCRIPTION:We are deeply honoured to announce that Kyabjé Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche will visit Sydney in October 2026. \n| Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche is one of the most highly revered masters in the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism and an important holder of its major lineages. He spent almost 25 years with his teacher and grandfather\, Kyabjé Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche\, receiving extensive teachings\, empowerments and transmissions\, and he continues that lineage today through his activities. \nRinpoche has agreed to give the following empowerments (wang): \n—Rongzom Kilaya – The Uncommon Vajrakīlaya lineage of Rongzom Paṇḍita stands among the most precious and extraordinary transmissions preserved within the Nyingma tradition and is important for the Yeshi Khorlo sangha. Learn more here. \n—Yang Nying Pudri – Razor of the Innermost Essence is a Vajrakilaya terma cycle revealed by Tertön Sogyal Lerab Lingpa. It serves as one of the two yidam practices for the Rigpa sangha and forms part of their foundational Three Roots practices. It allows students to practise the brief sadhanas of Vajrakilaya. Learn more here. \n—The 100 Peaceful and Wrathful Deities (Zhitro) of Chokgyur Lingpa – the Zhitro practice from the terma (treasure) cycle of the master Chokgyur Lingpa comprises the complete mandala empowerment of the 42 peaceful deities and 58 wrathful deities; it is a practice within the terma tradition and serves as an empowerment of the Guhyagarbha (Secret Essence) mandala. When teaching the Guhyagarbha Tantra\, His Holiness Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche required the qualification of the kama (oral transmission) empowerment of the Nyingma Guhyagarbha peaceful and wrathful deities. However\, His Holiness granted permission that the Zhitro empowerment from the Chokgyur Lingpa terma could serve as a substitute for the kamaempowerment of the Guhyagarbha peaceful and wrathful deities.྄ \nReceiving this empowerment also qualifies students to study Chapter 10 of the Yönten Dzö (The Treasury of Precious Qualities)\, the famous treatise by Jikmé Lingpa\, in which he expounds the entire Buddhist path from the shravaka yana teachings up to the Great Perfection. \n—Tiglé Gyachen\, the profound innermost secret guru yoga practice of the Longchen Nyingtik tradition. \n  \nRinpoche will also grant the reading transmissions (lung) for the practices associated with all of these empowerments\, as well as the lungs for:\n—Zurchungpa’s Eighty Chapters of Personal Advice\, the final testament of the great Nyingma master Zurchung Sherab Trakpa\n—Shechen Gyaltsab’s Commentary on this text.\n(Zurchungpa’s Testament\, along with Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche’s commentary\, is available in English – available through Shambala/Snow-Lion) \nMatthieu Ricard\, who served as Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche’s translator for more than twenty years will translate for Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche during the empowerments.

SUMMARY:What is Dharma for?
DESCRIPTION:In this evening talk\, Khenpo Tashi\, invites us to reflect on the ultimate purpose of the Buddha’s teaching; exploring what it offers us today and how it relates to our ordinary lives. \nFor many\, Buddhism is associated with meditation\, mindfulness\, or compassion. Yet these are only part of a much broader path of understanding and transformation. What is it that the Dharma ultimately points towards? And how does it relate to the way we live our ordinary lives? \nIn this public talk\, Khenpo Tashi explores these timeless questions with the clarity\, warmth\, and depth for which he is widely appreciated. Whether you are simply curious about Buddhism or have been practising for many years\, this evening offers an opportunity to reflect on what the Dharma is\, why it matters\, and how it can illuminate our lives. \nAbout Khenpo Tashi\nKhenpo Tashi trained at Namdroling Monastery under the guidance of his root teacher His Holiness Penor Rinpoche. For the past fourteen years\, at the request of Khenchen Namdrol Rinpoche\, he has served as the principal teacher of the Rigpa Shedra in Pharping\, Nepal\, where he teaches the classical curriculum of Sutra and Tantra to hundreds of students\, from beginners to advanced practitioners. Over the past four years\, his online teachings have reached an ever-wider audience within the Rigpa community and beyond. \nWidely appreciated for the depth of his learning\, the precision and clarity of his explanations\, and his ability to make profound teachings genuinely accessible while remaining deeply rooted in the tradition\, Khenpo Tashi teaches with a rare combination of scholarship\, warmth\, and practical insight.

SUMMARY:Seeing Things As They Really Are
DESCRIPTION:LERAB LING: Understanding Emptiness\nwith Khenpo Tashi \nWe spend our lives relating to the world through assumptions: about ourselves\, about others\, and about the way things are. Yet according to the Buddhist teachings\, many of the difficulties we experience arise precisely because we mistake appearance for reality. \nUnderstanding the difference between the two is at the heart of the Buddhist teaching on emptiness. What does emptiness actually mean? Does emptiness mean that nothing exists? If things are empty\, why do our experiences feel so vivid and real? And how can understanding emptiness help us live with greater freedom\, clarity\, and compassion in everyday life? \nDrawing on selected highlights from The Beacon of Certainty by Mipham Rinpoche\, one of the great works of Tibetan Buddhist thought\, Khenpo Tashi explores some of the essential questions at the heart of Buddhist wisdom with warmth\, precision\, and a deep grounding in the Tibetan tradition. \nWHO THIS EVENT IS FOR\nThis retreat is open to all practitioners with familiarity in meditation and Lojong. \nWhether you are newer to the philosophical dimension of the Dharma or a long-time practitioner seeking a firmer foundation beneath your practice\, these teachings offer something increasingly rare: the opportunity to develop a clear and stable confidence in the view of emptiness\, one that can genuinely support our path and our daily life in every circumstance. \nTEACHERS\nKhenpo Tashi is one of the most gifted and respected Nyingma khenpos of his generation\, trained at Namdroling Monastery under the guidance of his root teacher Kyabjé Penor Rinpoche. For the past fourteen years\, at the request of Khenchen Namdrol Rinpoche\, he has served as the principal teacher at the Rigpa Shedra (Buddhist study college) in Pharping\, Nepal\, offering teachings on both Sutra and Tantra to hundreds of students\, from beginners to advanced practitioners. Over the past four years\, his online teachings have brought his guidance to an ever-wider audience within the Rigpa community and beyond. \nRenowned for the depth of his learning\, the precision and clarity of his explanations\, and his rare ability to connect with students according to their needs and level of understanding\, Khenpo Tashi’s teachings are consistently experienced as both inspiring and transformative. \nThese teachings will be offered in Tibetan with live English translation by Rigpa Senior Teacher Damien van Effenterre.

SUMMARY:The Healing Power of Mind - According to Buddhist Wisdom
DESCRIPTION:Rigpa USA Annual Autumn Retreat\n| with Alain Beauregard. \n| Open to everyone. \n| Can we contribute to our own healing with our minds? Can practices such as meditation\, compassion\, and visualization help to realize the transformative potential of illness? During this event\, we will explore the path to healing through various practices that contribute to healing the whole being\, based on Alain’s experience in healing terminal cancer. \nWe will offer practical tools and new perspectives by addressing the practices of unconditional acceptance and loving kindness\, in order to develop a healthy relationship with oneself\, an essential aspect of the path to healing. We will introduce and practice the powerful practice of Guru Rinpoche of Healing\, combining invocation\, visualization\, and recitation of a sacred mantra. \nWe will present a new perspective on healing based on the Four Medical Tantra\, the source of Tibetan Medicine. And we will focus on practice to enter gradually into the various healing practices and spend time familiarizing ourselves and experiencing them deeply. \nThis approach introduces a holistic view on the topic of healing that allows us to deal with all physical\, mental\, and emotional suffering. It considers healing from the perspective of our entire being\, not just the body. Whether the body dies or not\, one can still live a profound experience of healing\, hence being better prepared for death. \nIMPORTANT – In case of serious illness\, Tibetan teachers strongly advise everyone to primarily follow an appropriate medical treatment and benefit from a spiritual approach in addition.
