SUMMARY:Awakening Wisdom and Love through the Master’s Blessing
DESCRIPTION:Teachings and Empowerments on the Transformative Path of Buddhism\nwith Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche \nMain event: 9-13 September\nWith the 3-day practice extension: 9-16 September \nThis gathering with Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche is a unique opportunity to connect to the unbroken living lineage of Tibetan Buddhism coming from the Buddha to Guru Rinpoche and the lineage masters to us. We can tap into its extraordinary vision of the flawlessly radiant and sky-like nature of our mind and heart. \nAs spiritual heir of the great Kyabjé Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche\, Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche offers teachings and transmissions that invite us to gently explore and practise Vajrayana together as a community. All this supported by experienced Rigpa practitioners and teachers\, in a beautiful retreat environment. \nWhat We’ll Explore\nAt the heart of this event are Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche’s teachings on Guru Rinpoche\, regarded not simply as the person who brought the Buddha’s teachings to Tibet\, but as the embodiment of the wisdom and compassion of all the buddhas and the ultimate reminder of our own buddha potential. The teachings show that by invoking the blessings of Guru Rinpoche\, we are able to open our mind and heart beyond their ordinary limitations—this is seen as the essence of the Vajrayana path. \nIn this context\, “blessing” points to something experiential: the way that teachings\, practices\, and the loving and profound atmosphere of realization created by the spiritual masters can inspire and reawaken something within us\, which\, like the sky momentarily covered by the clouds\, is always there. \nRunning through this introduction to the path of Vajrayana is the theme of devotion—understood here not as blind faith\, but as a skillful way of revealing our innate wisdom. In a fragmented and distracted world\, this quality of trust and inner connection can become a genuine source of protection and serenity. \nWhat the programme includes (9-13 September):\n\nTeachings and blessing empowerments bestowed by Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche\nGuided meditation and group practices\nRare films and archival footage of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche\nTime for questions\, reflection\, and sharing as a community\n\nIn particular\, Rabjam Rinpoche will give: \n\nTeachings on The Quintessence of the Profound Path: A Concise Guide to the Stages of Visualization for the Guru Yoga of the Seven-Line Supplication\, A Shower of Blessings. This is a detailed guide to Mipham Rinpoche’s Shower of Blessings\, a famous guru yoga practice based on the Seven-Line Prayer to Guru Rinpoche. The text is freely available here\nTeachings on selected poems of Heart Advice by Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche\, covering different aspects of the spiritual path\nBlessing empowerments\, which are planned to include Guru Rinpoche\, Orgyen Menla (Guru Rinpoche of Medicine)\, Green Tara and a long-life blessing (final programme to be confirmed).\n\nA 3-day extension led by Rigpa teachers and practice holders (14-16 September):\nFor those who wish to take more time to deepen their practice\, this extension will create space to further integrate the teachings that Rabjam Rinpoche has just given. We will gather several times a day to practise the Shower of Blessings guru yoga as a community. We will ‘accumulate’ the Seven-Line Prayer to Guru Rinpoche and dedicate our practice and pray strongly for all those affected by war\, environmental changes\, and anyone enduring hardship and loss across our world. \nThis is an ideal opportunity for Ngöndro students accumulating the Seven-Line Prayer. \nWho This Event Is For\nNo prior experience with Tibetan Buddhism is required—only an open mind and a genuine interest in exploring these teachings and this living tradition. \nAs Rinpoche will teach on the Seven-Line Prayer and guru yoga\, the event is especially beneficial for students practising the Vajrayana Preliminaries (Ngöndro) and Vajrayana practices. \nShechen Rabjam Rinpoche\nRinpoche is one of the most eminent Tibetan Buddhist Masters in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Grandson and spiritual heir of the great Kyabjé Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche (1910-1991)\, he is notably the combined emanation of the three main lamas from Shechen Monastery* who had all perished in Chinese prisons in the early sixties—the previous Shechen Rabjam\, Shechen Kongtrul and Shechen Gyaltsap\, Gyurme Pema Dorje. \nDilgo Khyentse Rinpoche was regarded by many as one of the greatest Dzogchen masters of the twentieth century\, and the very embodiment of Padmasambhava. It is Khyentse Rinpoche’s profound and rich teachings of the ancient Nyingma lineage that Rabjam Rinpoche has dedicated his life to transmitting. In his presence and through his teachings and transmissions\, the presence and blessings of Dilgo Khyentse are palpable and vividly present. \nRinpoche is greatly loved and appreciated everywhere on account of his generosity\, his modern approach and his warm and endearing presence. The Rigpa community holds him especially close to their heart\, deeply grateful for his constant kindness and guidance. \n*Shechen Monastery is one of the Six “Mother” Nyingma Monasteries of Tibet

SUMMARY:Youth Summer Retreat: Love\, Presence & Generosity
DESCRIPTION:Main retreat: 25 July – 4 August 2026 Arrival on 24 July\nShort option – Shyönnu Retreat: 31 July – 4 August 2026 Arrival on 30 July \nIn a world that often encourages us to hold on\, compare and protect ourselves\, another movement is possible: to open\, to share and to trust. In the Buddhist tradition\, this is known as dāna\, generosity; the first of the pāramitās\, or transcendent qualities. It is the gateway to a life of greater connection\, warmth and ease. \nThis retreat invites young adults to explore generosity as a living practice through meditation\, reflection\, dialogue and shared experience. Together\, we will discover how the simple gesture of opening the hand can also open the heart.

SUMMARY:Vajrayana from a Sutrayana Perspective: A talk by Rigpa Teacher Lily Ng
DESCRIPTION:PARTNER EVENT BY OCEAN\nFor the Milinda Talks Resource Group \nThis talk explores the perspective of The Essence of Clear Light\, Mipham Rinpoche’s commentary that provides an overview of the Guhyagarbha tantra\, focusing on the importance of the Sutrayana path. \nIt invites us to reconsider the foundations of practice—not as something to move beyond\, but as something we come to recognize as essential and never leave behind. By cultivating renunciation\, compassion\, and the understanding of emptiness\, we build a path that is both grounded and far-reaching. \nIt also points to the importance of understanding view not as something merely objective or conceptual\, but as something to be realized and embodied within our own experience. \nEspecially in the context of Vajrayana practice\, this perspective highlights how these foundations give direction\, stability\, and authenticity to the path. \nThe session offers a space to reflect on how these qualities support a more meaningful and genuinely transformative approach to practice and life.

SUMMARY:Self Forgiveness in the Light of Compassion
DESCRIPTION:Discover how to live with a lighter\, kinder heart. Many of us carry beliefs that we’re unworthy of love or beyond forgiveness\, leaving us trapped in guilt and self-blame. But punishing ourselves only deepens our suffering and prevents us from realizing our natural state. Through insight\, compassion\, and guided meditations\, you’ll learn to soften your “inner critic\,” release false beliefs\, and understand why you can let yourself off the hook—all of which frees your heart. As you cultivate forgiveness and compassion for yourself\, you’ll naturally feel a genuine compassion and understanding for others—and the world. \nAbout Christine \nChristine Longaker is a pioneer of the hospice movement and author of Facing Death and Finding Hope \, translated into 9 languages. She’s  co-author of Are You Ready and of published research on the benefits of Spiritual Care Training. She founded Rigpa in the USA in 1981\, the Spiritual Care Education Program in 1993\, and co-produced an in-depth accredited Contemplative Palliative Care training at Naropa University.

SUMMARY:Matrix and the Four Noble Truths: A search for wisdom
DESCRIPTION:*Join the course any time* \nStep beyond the surface of The Matrix and uncover how its themes and questions reflect deep Buddhist teachings. Join us as we explore this unique intersection in our course. \nLike the stories and legends we grew up with\, great science fiction can illuminate timeless wisdom and connect us with the universal search for truth. \nThe Matrix has inspired and captivated a generation with its powerful message\, stunning visuals\, and thought-provoking direction. \nAt its core\, it’s about a quest for meaning and freedom—something we can all relate to. It invites us to reflect on a timeless question: Aren’t we\, too\, sometimes caught in a world of illusions\, worries\, and frustrations? 2600 years before the movie\, a wise man in India\, the Buddha\, answered this very question. His answer was the Four Noble Truths\, which would become the pillars of his teachings. \nTogether\, we will: \n\nExplore the fascinating space between fiction and the reality of our human experience\nReflect on the meaning of existence—and even challenge some of our ideas about happiness\nDuring our time together\, you’ll have the chance to:\nExperience guided meditations\nJoin in thoughtful discussions\nEnjoy moments of shared reflection

SUMMARY:The Power of Your Mind
DESCRIPTION:This five-day retreat will present the Mahayana Seven Points of Mind Training\, to lay out a path of formal meditation practice\, accompanied by guidelines for extending that practice into everyday life. \nThese teachings are precious and unique in presenting the entire depth and breadth of the Buddha’s Mahayana teachings succinctly and practically. Mahayana mind training offers an approach to life that is straightforward\, grounded in sanity\, kindness\, and compassion. Yet it also offers a vision that completely transcends our ordinary way of viewing ourselves and others\, with an all-encompassing vision of enlightenment. \nMahayana mind training helps us give expression to our enlightened heart in everything we think\, say and do. The training particularly focuses on our relationships\, which are like a mirror that shows us exactly where we are at. Our relationships also provide us with a way to dissolve the limitations that prevent the vastness of our true nature from fully manifesting.

SUMMARY:The Heart of The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying - Breaking Free From Your Habitual Patterns
DESCRIPTION:Do you feel like you’re living the same patterns over and over? Many of us experience a sense of being stuck—repeating the same relationships\, reactions\, and life circumstances despite our best efforts to change. What if there was a way to understand the deeper currents that shape our experience? Rather than seeing life as random events happening to you\, you’ll discover a framework for understanding the deeper patterns at work—what many traditions call the law of cause and effect\, or karma. This isn’t about fate or being trapped by past actions\, but about recognizing your incredible power to shape your experience through mindfulness\, awareness\, and the courage to face your habitual reactions.
