Unique Prayer Gathering Under the Bodhi Tree
Gill (Rigpa)
Imagine a place where Buddhists of all traditions are gathered in a colourful and vibrant mix of nationalities and languages. All wearing the robes of their tradition—grey, maroon, brown, gold—all boldly, loudly chanting prayers according to the liturgies of their tradition, and making offerings of flower garlands, fruits and foods. A glorious cacophony of sound, colour, and inspiration!
This is Bodhgaya.
Bodhgaya is the holiest place of pilgrimage for Buddhists of all traditions, the place where Buddha Shakyamuni attained enlightenment. It is a sacred and powerful place to make aspirations, dedicate prayers, meditate and practise. Practising and meditating in such a place has immense spiritual power—even more so when done as a group with a single focus and collective motivation.
It is with exactly this motivation and inspiration that Rigpa will hold a prayer gathering under the famous Bodhi tree in Bodhgaya in March 2019. Anyone who has been connected with Rigpa over the years is invited to join. The Rigpa community has been through a difficult time this past year. This gathering is a perfect and timely opportunity for us to heal the past and focus on why we are all here—to practise the dharma.
