A message from Rigpa’s Vision Board
Dear Sangha friends,
As we approach the 4th anniversary of Sogyal Rinpoche’s parinirvana, we have once again requested guidance and advice from His Holiness Sakya Gongma Trichen Rinpoche regarding what practices we should do to ensure the flourishing of the Rigpa Sangha, and also to remove any obstacles there might be to the recognition of Sogyal Rinpoche’s reincarnation.
As we all know, Sogyal Rinpoche enjoyed an incredibly close and warm Dharma connection to His Holiness and would often turn to him throughout his life for his support, guidance, and counsel. Respecting that very special connection between them, and also because His Holiness is one of the most revered living masters in the Tibetan Buddhist world, we continue to look to him for advice for the Rigpa Sangha.
His Holiness kindly performed a divination on our behalf, and has given us the following precious instruction. That is to accumulate the following practices:
1 million Seven Line Prayers
100,000 The Prayer that Swiftly Fulfils All Wishes (Sampa Nyurdrupma)
100,000 Fulfilment practice for general and particular Dharma protectors
10,000 ‘Pacifying the Turmoil of the Mamos’
In the tradition of supporting the great monasteries, something for which Sogyal Rinpoche’s family was renowned in Tibet, we have asked the monastic community at Namdroling Monastery to accumulate these practices, graciously overseen by Khenchen Namdrol Rinpoche.
Sogyal Rinpoche always put trust in his own students to accomplish prayers on his behalf, so in the same spirit, we can all participate—with enthusiasm and joy—in accumulating 1 million Seven Line Prayer during the 5 day anniversary of Sogyal Rinpoche’s parinirvana.
Let’s all gather on this occasion (in-person or online) and pray for the best possible circumstances for our common vision and this vibrant lineage of study and practice to thrive, now and in the future. Together we can enliven our community spirit as a sangha and reignite our own spiritual practice!
