Rigpa UK Wang Dü accumulations - and the international sangha is invited to join
Rigpa UK
The international Rigpa sangha recently received advice from our lama advisors to focus on the prayer of Wang Dü: The Great Cloud of Blessings: the Prayer which Magnetises All that Appears and Exists with a focus on creating auspicious conditions for the recognition of Sogyal Rinpoche’s tulku, all of Rigpa’s projects, and harmony in the sangha.
Rigpa’s UK sangha has already been accumulating this prayer intensively for several months following advice from Orgyen Tobgyal Rinpoche. UK Practice Holder Adele Hersey shares their experience and invites the international sangha to join them!
_______
Here in the UK, the sangha have been accumulating the Wang Du prayer intensively for some months now. Last Autumn, Orgyen Tobgyal Rinpoche visited London and advised Rigpa UK to gather in groups and accumulate 10,000 recitations of the Verses of the Eight Noble Auspicious Ones and 100,000 Wang Dü prayers directing the practice for all to go well for the Rigpa UK sangha and its activity. Since then, we have made the most of every opportunity to focus on these prayers.
We decided to hold accumulation sessions in groups of 4 or more people. As well as holding special accumulation sessions, we also add in short accumulations to any event, course, or practice day such as the during the Tendrel Nyesel Tsok. By focusing on the practices in this way, in around 5 months we have accomplished 75% of the Verses of the Eight Noble Auspicious Ones and 42% of the Wang Dü accumulations.
We are inspired and enthusiastic to continue!
Around Losar, we held several accumulation sessions along with the other Losar group practices. This was attended by sangha friends in person in the beautiful London centre and by a substantial group online. Most groups are a mix of in-person and online, making it very inclusive.
There is a particularly steady online group which have been practising every weekday morning at 7am together. We use four melodies live, sometimes also playing chants by Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche, or from Larung Gar. Khenpo Sodarge’s commentary is a wonderful resource that we listen to extracts from to deepen our understanding. You can find Wang Dü resources such as these and more on Prajna.
For a flavour of the happy atmosphere and our determination, read some comments from participants below.
“It's 6.30am, turn off the alarm and get ready for Wang Du accumulations. Why? Because we are doing it for the benefit of Rigpa UK. I feel such respect for the small group who have held Rigpa UK together through several tumultuous years. So just to contribute a wee bit. And, totally selfishly, the state of the world is hardly uplifting at the moment and to see a regular bunch of people on zoom each morning, joyfully led is a great way to start the day! It is like a mini sangha now.”
“These morning Wang du sessions are wonderful! Being with sangha friends, it makes for such a powerful and joyful way to start the day!”
“While practising the Eight Noble Auspicious Ones and Wang Du, following OT Rinpoche’s recommendation for Rigpa UK, one immediate benefit is that people I did not previously know so well have now become very friendly and familiar online faces!”
“I have been experiencing a strong commonality of intent, a marked feeling of the Sangha coming together as one mandala pursuing a very wholesome purpose. Everything and everyone can thus be magnetised and attained. May we seamlessly widen the scope of our practise for the benefit of the worldwide Sangha and of all sentient beings!
Many thanks and lots of love.”
So to our international sangha friends, if you’d like to come along and join us for Wang Dü, you are most welcome. The sessions are held Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays. 08:00 - 08:30 CET / 07:00 - 07:30 UK time. You can find the link on Prajna.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
