Nominating New Vision Board Members
Rigpa Vision Board
In the coming weeks, Rigpa’s holders will nominate new members for the Vision Board. When the Vision Board was first founded by Sogyal Rinpoche, it was decided that its membership would be renewed every four years.
We are also taking this opportunity to recollect, more broadly, how the spiritual direction in Rigpa is held.
How Rigpa’s spiritual direction is held
Spiritual direction in Rigpa is held by the Vision Board, along with Rigpa’s Senior Teachers and Practice Holders, and with the guidance of our Spiritual Advisors: Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche, Mindrolling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche and Khenchen Namdrol Rinpoche - as well as with the advice of many great masters of the Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism.
The role of the Vision Board is to ensure that the Rigpa community has clear spiritual guidance and direction.

Renewing Vision Board membership
The Vision Board was set up in 2017. Soon after, its members defined in its Charter which outlines how the Vision Board would work, based on what Sogyal Rinpoche had envisioned, also with the input of the Spiritual Advisors, Rigpa’s national Boards and the whole Rigpa sangha at the time.
It was agreed that the Vision Board would be renewed every four years, by changing up to one third of its members through a nomination process. The last nomination process took place in early 2019, so it’s now time for some members to step back and for new members to be appointed. The majority of the current team will remain to ensure continuity.
It is Rigpa’s teachers, practice holders, international activity holders and senior national activity holders who will be invited to each nominate amongst those groups two new members and one new Youth Advisor to join the Vision Board. This process will happen by 17 January 2023.
The criteria for Vision Board members are:
their commitment to the dharma and to the vision of Rigpa,
their knowledge of our lineage and tradition of teaching, study, practice and activity, and
their qualities of Bodhichitta.
After nominations have been received, the next steps will be interviews with the nominated candidates, a process of divinations, and consultation with the Chairs of national Rigpa Boards and Rigpa's Spiritual Advisors, taking into consideration the diversity and balance needed in the team.
