The new Rigpa Calendar is now available—with special features
Rigpa
This year will mark the 45th anniversary of the Rigpa Tibetan Calendar. First published in 1979, the calendar is based on the ancient tradition of Tibetan astrology, following the Phugpa tradition of the Tibetan calendar which is calculated by Men Tsee Khang—The Tibetan Medical and Astro-science Institute in Dharamsala.
The goal of Rigpa’s calendar continues to be to honour the four schools of Tibetan Buddhism, to celebrate and share unique Tibetan Buddhist art, and above all to serve as an indispensable guide for every practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism.
In particular, this year the calendar includes a selection of prayers especially recommended for the tumultuous times the world currently faces, including:
“World Peace Prayer” by Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche, recommended by Garchen Rinpoche
“Incantation of the Rishis” By Kyabjé Chatral Rinpoche, recommended by Khenchen Pema Sherab Rinpoche.
“True Words to Pacify the Degenerations of the Times” by Jamgön Mipham Rinpoche, recommended by Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche.
“A Means to Pacify the Fear of Natural Disasters” by Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö, recommended by Mindrolling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche
The features we all know and love are again available this year:
a Tibetan and Western calendar, including the phases of the moon
prayers for auspiciousness and to remove obstacles,
important Buddhist practice days and festivals
anniversaries of masters of all the Tibetan lineages
main western dates such as holidays and daylight savings changes
a selection of the United Nations international days
The Rigpa calendar is now available to order on ZamStore.com. Enjoy!
